What it is
Writing on Türkiye's economy is spread across news agencies, research institutes, the central bank, the statistics office and company filings. ekonomi.org.tr puts it on one site, in Turkish. Each record gives a short Turkish summary, the numbers that appear in its source and a link to the source itself. The summaries are written in the site's own words without direct quotation, and each one says whether it rests on the full text, the source's own summary or only a public preview. The text of subscription publications is never republished.
The site has four parts. Güncel lists news, analysis and research by day and by topic, and in late October 2026 it held 409 records from 105 sources. Veri holds 1,061 official data series from the statistics office TÜİK, the central bank TCMB, the banking regulator BDDK, the Bank for International Settlements, the Treasury and Finance Ministry and Eurostat. Şirketler covers the 755 companies traded on Borsa İstanbul, with financial summaries from KAP, the public disclosure platform, for 746 of them. A blog carries longer guides, and the first explains step by step how to use EVDS-MCP, the central bank's new service for reaching its data from AI tools.
How a day's update works
A scheduled task runs every morning at seven, UK time. It looks for new material, writes and checks the Turkish summaries, rebuilds the site and publishes it only when every check passes. A weekly run on Sundays refreshes the data series and a quarter of the company pages, so each company is renewed every four weeks.
Find
Open feeds from NBER, the central bank's working papers and the World Bank come first. Four searches with Firecrawl and two with Exa look for new reporting and research on Türkiye.
Read
Pages are read directly where the source allows it. Publications that need a subscription are read in the ego lite browser.
Summarise
ChatGPT and Codex write the Turkish summaries, and only numbers that appear in the source are kept.
Review
A separate Codex reviewer reads the final Turkish text against the sources before it can be published.
Build
A Python program loads every record into one SQLite database and writes the pages, charts and share pictures.
Publish
The site goes to Netlify only when the tests and the site check pass and the review approval matches the files.
The tools
The site is put together from a few services and one program of its own. Each has a narrow job.
| Tool | What it is | Its job here |
|---|---|---|
| Firecrawl | A web search and page-reading service with an API, made for software and AI agents | Four searches a day for new reporting and research |
| Exa | A search engine with an API, built for AI applications | Two further searches a day |
| ego lite | A Chromium browser that a person and an AI agent can both use | Reads subscription publications and KAP pages |
| ChatGPT and Codex | OpenAI's assistant and coding agent | Run the daily and weekly tasks, write the Turkish summaries and review them |
| Python, SQLite and Jinja | The site's own generator | Build every page, chart and share picture from one database |
| Headless Chrome | A browser without a window | Draws most of the share pictures for WhatsApp and X |
| Netlify | A host for static websites | Serves the site |
The generator follows one rule. A change made in one place reaches every page that uses it on the next build. Records, data series, companies and their reporting periods live in one database, and each family of pages is a query and a template. The commands below rebuild the site, run the daily update and check the result.
./ekonomi all # database, every page, share pictures and checks
./ekonomi daily # the same, after looking for new items in the open feeds
./ekonomi check # share pictures present, local links resolve, no drafts left
Company pages
Each listed company has its own page built from KAP summary tables. It shows the latest result, the profit or loss on each 100 lira of sales, the balance sheet, four reports side by side and six ratios set among the company's sector and the market. The page also gathers the records on the site that mention the company. The ratios, medians and rankings are calculated from the KAP tables and are not an assessment of the company.
Design
The look follows Japanese ink prints. Drawings of Istanbul show the Galata Tower, the Süleymaniye Mosque, the Maiden's Tower and a Bosphorus ferry, under a red sun on the home page. Turkish needs letters such as ğ, ş and İ that most Japanese-style fonts lack. BIZ UDPMincho and BIZ UDPGothic are the Google fonts in that style with full Turkish support, and the site sets its text in them.
Limits
Nothing on the site is investment advice. Data appear as their sources publish them, so later revisions should be checked at the source, and corrections to a record are marked on the record. Suggestions and corrections can be sent to hi@fatih.ai.
